Non-Public Services

Non-Public

The Nonpublic Services Department sponsored a presentation called “The Butterfly Effect" for nonpublic and public school administrators. Ian Hockley warmly shared his son Dylan’s story while also describing Dylan’s Wings of Change, the foundation he created in memory of his son as a result of the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

Working with dedicated experts the foundation created Wingman, a youth leadership program that develops social and emotional skills through engaging, experiential activities that inspire children to be more empathetic and courageous young leaders.

Mr. Hockley addressed the epidemic of social isolation and exclusion today and the need for social and emotional programming everywhere. He guided the participants through a sequence of Wingman activities to help explore social emotional learning challenges and opportunities facing educators today.
